Yaya Dub, Pastillas girl, Zendee Tenerefe, mamon girl, pabebe warriors, they were only some of the people who got famous because of social networking sites.They have all started in uploading their videos in the internet, spread by a lot of netizens, and then boom! They suddenly became famous. It’s like a magic.
Internet undeniably makes things easier for the people. No doubts. Let’s take communication as an example. Also nowadays, if you want to be noticed, just post your “Twinkilay, Twinkilay,” video. Kidding aside. But seriously, just post a video or picture of yours which might gain attention from the public.
AlDub is considered as one of the most famous love teams in showbiz industry of the Philippines today. Nicomaine Dei Mendoza, known as Yaya Dub was just like the ordinary people before who browse social networking sites every day. One time, because of her boredom, she decided to make her own dubsmash videos and uploaded it on her facebook account. With just 24 hours, she got 1M plus views, and the rest is history. She was a product of the spotlight version 2.0, which was the internet. Obviously, people love her. Being an internet sensation had a good effect on her.
Meanwhile, spotlight version 2.0 doesn’t always provide a good outcome. Pabebe warriors, mamon girl, neneng gums and hasht5 were just some of the examples. They became famous because of bashers. Obviously, a vice versa of what happened to Maine Mendoza.
The point here is, even though internet creates more opportunities to everyone, we still do not know what might be the result. Being an internet sensation is not that easy. People knew you on your social media accounts, but not the real story behind your name.
However, whatever spotlight you have, either the original one or the spotlight version 2.0, it only means one thing. “It’s your time to shine.” It’s just up to you if it’s either in a good or bad way.
